Today, U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) released a statement following the Trump administration’s announcement of yet another round of tariffs. The administration is imposing duties of at least 10 percent on goods from 60 trading partners, covering 99.4 percent of U.S. imports. They are set to go into effect on Friday, July 24, 2026 at 12:01am.
“New Yorkers deserve better than President Trump’s Tariff Tax, which is driving up our cost of living. Instead of continuing his disastrous tariff scheme, the president must put the American people first and revoke these harmful policies that are making everyday Americans’ lives flat-out unaffordable. At home in New York and across the country, people are struggling, and they need relief. I will continue doing everything in my power to shield them from the president’s chaos.”
