Gillibrand Announces Final Congressional Passage Of $600,000 For Suffolk County Highway Improvements

Dec 14, 2009

Washington,
DC
– U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand today announced that both houses of Congress
passed the FY2010 Omnibus Appropriations bill, including $600,000 to help
improve County Road 97, Nicolls Road in Suffolk County. Senator Gillibrand
aggressively lobbied members of the Appropriations Committee to include funding
for the project in this year’s spending bill.

“This
is great news for Suffolk County,” Senator Gillibrand said. “Investing in our
infrastructure will help improve our roads and make them safer for our
travelers, create jobs and help rebuild our economy. I will continue working
hard to ensure New York gets its fair share from the federal government.”

Suffolk County will use the $400,000 federal investment to help make capacity
and safety improvements to CR 97, Nicolls Road.

The U.S. Senate passed the Omnibus Appropriations bill over the weekend. With
final passage, the bill now goes to the President to become law.
