Feb 3, 2012

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand today announced $49,500 in federal funding for Kings Brothers Dairy in Schuylerville to help expand their retail capabilities and update company software. The funding was allocated through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Value-Added Grant (VAPG) Program.

“This is great news for Kings Brothers Dairy,” said Senator Gillibrand, a member of the Senate Committee on Agriculture. “This federal grant will help ensure they have the resources they need to bring their products to market and continue to drive economic growth in their region and across the state.”

“We appreciate the Senator’s support with the VAPD grants during the application process and putting together the grant,” said Jan King of Kings Brothers Dairy. “This grant will help grow the sales of our retail milk and home delivery business and allow us to purchase software upgrades.”

The VAPG program is designed to help boost farms’ income and productivity by increasing access to capital, providing technical assistance and developing new marketing strategies for independent producers to increase exposure and broaden their customer base.
