Gillibrand Honors Israel's 61st Year of Statehood

Washington, D.C. - U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand today congratulated Israel as it celebrates its 61st year of statehood.

"For 61 years, Israel has been a beacon of democracy and freedom in the Middle East. I congratulate Israel and all of its citizens for this lasting achievement.

"The challenges Israel faces will never be challenges they face alone. A threat to Israel is a threat to America. We will always be at Israel's side, working tirelessly to ensure its safety, security and prosperity.

"I pledge to use my seat on Senate Foreign Relations Committee to ensure Israel's security, and continue building on the strong, enduring friendship that America and Israel share."

Senator Gillibrand has consistently been a strong voice for Israel.  While in the House of Representatives, Senator Gillibrand cosponsored critical legislation to recognize Israel's right to defend itself against attacks from Gaza and reaffirm America's support for Israel.
