Washington D.C. – U.S. Senators Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand today announced $1,137,321 in Department of Transportation (DOT) funds for Buffalo Niagara International Airport. The DOT grant will fund construction to rehabilitate an access road to the airport.
“This is great news for passengers that use Buffalo Niagara International,” said Senator Schumer. “With this investment, the airport can make roadway renovations that will ensure the smooth operation of the facility and improve access for passengers.”
“These are critical investments for Buffalo Niagara International,” Senator Gillibrand said. “These federal dollars will provide important upgrades to improve the airport and provide better service for travelers.”
According to the DOT, the federal funds will preserve access to the airport and extend the life of pavement surfaces. The Airport Improvement Program provides grants to public agencies for the planning and development of public-use airports that are included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems (NPIAS).
