Senators Schumer and Gillibrand Announce Over $700,000 for Massena Airfield

May 20, 2009

U.S.
Senators Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand today announced $707,203 in
U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) funding for the Massena
International-Richards Field.  The grant will be used to replace airfield
signage.

“This is great news for Massena Airfield,” said
Schumer. “By replacing and upgrading guidance signs at the airfield, we
are ensuring the security and safety of our pilots and passengers. When it
comes to air travel, safety is a critical concern and these funds will help
ensure that it remains a top priority.”

“This is a great investment for the Massena Airfield,” Senator
Gillibrand said. “These federal dollars will support critical updates at the
airport to help ensure safety for travelers. I will continue working with
Senator Schumer and the entire Congressional Delegation to make sure New York gets its fair
share from the federal government.”

According to the DOT
grant
these funds will be used to install guidance signs in the Massena
Airfield.
