Gillibrand Statement on Hostages Killed by U.S. Drone Strike

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand today issued the following statement on the two hostages killed by a U.S. drone strike:

“I am deeply saddened by the news that Dr. Warren Weinstein, an American hostage who had lived and taught in New York, was killed in a U.S. drone strike. Dr. Weinstein devoted his life to rebuilding war-ravaged communities, and his tragic death underscores both his bravery and sacrifice. My prayers are with his family, as well as with the family of Giovanni Lo Porta, an Italian hostage whose life was also taken. I have requested further information from the White House for specific details on this terrible incident.”
